‘एक्स्प्रेस वे’वरील दुभाजकांची उंची वाढणार : गृहमंत्री पाटील: पिंपरी। दि. ४ (प्रतिनिधी)
पुणे-मुंबई ‘एक्स्प्रेस वे’वरील वाढत्या अपघातांना ‘ब्रेक’ लावण्यासाठी या महामार्गावरील दुभाजक उंची वाढवून अधिक मजबूत करण्यात येणार आहेत. या संदर्भात लवकरच महाराष्ट्र राज्य रस्ते विकास कॉर्पोरेशनच्या (एमएसआरडीसी) तांत्रिक समितीला सूचना करण्यात येतील, अशी माहिती गृहमंत्री आर. आर. पाटील यांनी शुक्रवारी दिली.
उर्से टोलनाक्याजवळ महामार्ग वाहतूक शाखेच्या वतीने राष्ट्रीय रस्ता सुरक्षा सप्ताहानिमित्त आयोजित कार्यक्रमात गृहमंत्री पाटील बोलत होते. या वेळी पोलीस अधीक्षक दिलीप भुजबळ, पुणे ग्रामीणचे उपअधीक्षक विनायक ढाकणे, तळेगावचे नगराध्यक्ष सुरेश धोत्रे, महामार्ग पोलीस कदत केंद्राचे सहायक निरीक्षक मल्हारी अडागळे, उपनिरीक्षक एस. पी. माने उपस्थित होते.
पाटील म्हणाले की, दहशतवादी हल्ल्यापेक्षाही जास्त जीवितहानी अपघातांतून होत आहे. देशात रस्ते अपघातामुळे दर वर्षी लाखो लोक मृत्युमुखी पडतात. यामध्ये देशाची तरुण पिढी नष्ट होत असून, ही चिंताजनक बाब आहे. महामार्गावर दुभाजक तोडून होणारे वाढते अपघात टाळण्यासाठी दुभाजक अडीच फुटांपर्यंत पक्के करण्याबाबत ‘एमएसआरडीसी’च्या तांत्रिक समितीला सूचना करणार असल्याचे पाटील यांनी सांगितले.
अपघात टाळण्याच्या दृष्टीने महामार्ग पोलीस, प्रशासकीय अधिकारी, राजकीय पक्षाचे पदाधिकारी आणि सुज्ञ नागरिकांनी रस्ते अपघाताबाबत समाजात प्रबोधन करण्याची आवश्यकता निर्माण झाली आहे. पथनाट्य हे केवळ रस्ता सुरक्षा सप्ताहाच्या काळात सादर न करता वर्षभर सादर केल्यास रस्ते अपघात रोखण्यास मदत होईल, असेही ते म्हणाले.
